Chief of Police Gregory Alexander was promoted to Chief on July 24, 2015. He has been employed with the Yemassee Police Department for 15 years. During Greg’s tenure, his positions have included Sergeant over Investigations and Lieutenant then Captain since 2007. In 2010, he started a Cops and Tots program to have a positive impact on the youth in the community and to build a relationship to help steer them on a course for success. Greg is also credited with implementing a strong training program for the officers which includes a driving program. Greg has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Management. 

From 1997 to 2000, Greg served in the Navy as active duty.  Following his three year active duty tour, he was in the Naval Reserves for eight years.  In 2005 and 2006, Greg served Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait. During his time in the Navy, he received the Navy Achievement Award. 
When Greg is off duty, he attends Mt. Joy Holiness Church and has been a trustee since 2012.
